WHERE IT IS CHECKED
Whose money, how much, and for how long.
A translated statement must answer those three questions for a reader who cannot read the original.
- Student visa funds. GOV.UK asks you to have held the money for at least 28 days in a row, with the latest evidence dated no more than 31 days before you apply. Courses in London, meaning the City of London and the 32 boroughs, need a higher monthly amount than courses elsewhere.
- A parent's account. Students can rely on a parent's money, but the parent must write a letter agreeing to it, and the Home Office finance rules also ask for proof of the relationship.
- Visit visas. The Home Office guide suggests statements that detail the origin of the funds, and treats statements over a year old, and credit card statements, as less useful.
- Mortgages, lettings and accountants. Lenders, letting agents and accountants set their own rules, so ask which months they want first.
WHAT WE CHECK ON A STATEMENT
Every figure, exactly as the bank printed it.
- Amounts stay in their original currency, with its code. For Student and visit visa funds the Home Office converts most currencies itself, at the OANDA spot rate for the application date.
- Decimal commas. Where a bank prints 1.250,00 for the UK's 1,250.00, the figures are set out so no one misreads the sum.
- Closing balances and their dates. The Student visa 28 days count back from the closing balance date on your latest evidence, so each must match the original.
- Your name, the bank's name and the balance, which Student evidence must show. The Home Office may check with your bank, so account details are copied character for character.
- Overdrafts and credit limits are labelled as exactly that, because they cannot count towards Student visa funds.
- Transaction lines are translated, while names of people, shops and companies stay as written and reference codes are left untouched.
- Every page, with headers, footers and page numbers, so the whole period is visibly there. Stamps on paper statements are noted in brackets.
ACCEPTED WHERE YOU NEED IT
Made for Home Office finance checks.
For Student applications, Home Office caseworker guidance wants a certified translation by a professional translator or translation company, showing that it is accurate, when it was done, who signed it and how to contact them. Every order includes a signed, dated Statement of Truth and a certification letter with the translator's credentials, and our certified translations are accepted by UK courts, the Home Office, universities, HMRC and banks.
If a UK authority ever rejects your translation, we revise it free or refund you in full.

QUESTIONS
Questions about statements.
How many months of statements should I translate?
Enough to cover the period you rely on. For a Student visa that is at least 28 days in a row, ending on the closing balance date of your latest statement, which must be no more than 31 days old when you apply. A lender or landlord may want a longer run.
Do I have to send bank statements with a Student visa application?
Not always. GOV.UK says you need no financial evidence if you are applying to stay and have been in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months, and nationals of some listed countries need not send it upfront unless the decision maker asks.
My parents are paying. What else needs translating?
Their letter agreeing to you using the money, and proof that they are your parents, such as your birth certificate, if either is not in English or Welsh.
Is an online download good enough?
For Student visa funds, GOV.UK says bank statements can be paper or electronic downloads. Upload the file as your bank issued it and we translate all of it.
Will you convert the amounts into pounds?
No. Every amount stays in its original currency. For Student and visit visa funds the Home Office converts foreign currency itself at the rate for the date you apply.
